Gala de decernare a premiilor Academiei Britanice de Film si Televiziune a avut loc in seara de duminica, 12 februarie, la Royal House Opera din Londra. The Artist a castigat sapte premii, pentru Cel mai bun film, Cel mai bun regizor (Michel Hazanavicius), Cel mai bun scenariu original (Michel Hazanavicius), Cel mai bun actor in rol principal (Jean Dujardin), Cea mai buna coloana sonora, Cea mai buna imagine, Cele mai bune costume . The Artist era favoritul galei, cu 11 nominalizari. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy a castigat doua premii, pentru Cel mai bun film britanic si Cel mai bun scenariu adaptat, in timp ce La Piel Que Habito, regizat de Pedro Almodovar, a luat premiul pentru Cel mai bun film strain.

Meryl Streep a castigat la categoria Cea mai buna actrita in rol principal, pentru prestatia sa din The Iron Lady. La categoria Cel mai bun actor in rol secundar, premiul i-a revenit lui Cristopher Plummer (Beginners), in timp ce Olivia Spencer (The Help) a fost desemnata Cea mai buna actrita in rol secundar. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II a castigat la categoria Cele mai bune efecte speciale, iar Rango a fost desemnat Cel mai bun film de animatie. Rising Star Award – singura categorie din competitie decisa prin votul publicului – i-a revenit lui Adam Deacon (Anuvahood, Everywhere and Nowhere).

Premiul Academy Fellowship i-a revenit lui Martin Scorsese, iar premiul BAFTA pentru intreaga cariera i-a fost inmanat lui John Hurt.
